BIOWALES FEATURES IN WALES INNOVATION WEEK

BioWales (March 12 and 13) is a key focus in Wales Innovation Week, a significant week for Welsh innovation and technology, with the inaugural Innovation into Action event taking place at the National Cricket Centre, Sophia Gardens on March 10 and 11, and the British Female Inventor and Innovator Showcase, Conference & Awards at City Hall on the same dates.

    Innovation into Action

This is a brand new event set up to attract scouts and potential investors with the opportunity to discover new products, ideas and technologies, to meet developers and to make deals.

Delegates will have access to over 70 mainly Welsh exhibitors who will gather to showcase their ideas, many for the first time, as we discover the commercial potential of a range of products from high to low tech. A key feature of the two day event will be the innovation brokerage, with pre-arranged one-to-one sessions for potential deal making.

Innovation into Action is the brainchild of the Welsh Assembly Government, and allows exhibitors the chance to showcase their wares to an audience of investors, venture capitalists, business angels, technology scouts, distributors and retailers, giving businesses the opportunity to engage in partnerships and strike deals that can bring bright ideas to market.

British Female Inventor and Innovator Awards

Women across the nation have the chance to be recognised as the British Female Inventor and Innovator of the Year 2008 with the latest competition by the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (GWIIN) taking place in Cardiff for the first time to celebrate and promote creative, inventive and innovative products and inventions by women - from those created in the laboratory to ideas developed in the kitchen at home.

Founder, Bola Olabisi who has since launched the competition in Asia, Africa, Latin America and most recently Europe, says that the UK event is moving from strength to strength: "The 2008 event will reflect the diversity of innovations that we receive in the competition. We welcome ideas from women of all backgrounds - scientists and engineers working on patented inventions to women with no previous research and development experience who have come up with an excellent gadget. The only crucial criteria is that they have a valid contribution to providing a better quality of life for people," says Bola.

With the premier support and assistance of Wales Innovators Network funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, the theme of the 2008 two day event is ‘Accelerating Innovation with Knowledge Transfer and Technology' and will include several high profile industry speakers from various backgrounds.
