Biographical note:

Professor Peter Wells is the Senior Scientific Director of the Institute of Medical Engineering and Medical Physics in the School of Engineering at Cardiff University. His principal research interest is in medical imaging, particularly in ultrasonic techniques. Following a 12-year period as a research assistant in Bristol, he was appointed Professor of Medical Physics in Cardiff. He then returned to Bristol where, for 25 years, he was head of the NHS Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering. He took up his current appointment in Cardiff in 2004.
